Chinatown

The historical Asian influence of Australia is found in the centres in the area bounded by Dixon, Hay Sussex and Liverpool Streets Haymarket. The area is famous for "Yum Cha" eateries, which is referred to as Brunch eaten between Breakfast and Lunch. Waiters push food carts of plates of meals amongst diners who select by looking at the samples. Be careful not to accept what you don't want as you may get stuck with something you don't want to eat. Yum Cha is not the place for a "quiet" sit-down meal. Yum Cha is something every visitor to Chinatown should experience at least once. For the quiet eater, there are other eateries that can accommodate you here. There is a real sense of atmosphere in both the eateries and the street. The eateries and restaurants in this area boast traditional Chinese cuisine that has not been Westernised. Be prepared to eat your meals with chopsticks. You will feel like you have stepped into an Asian marketplace when walking through here. If you are after any exotic Asian product or food, you are bound to find it here. In the middle of all this hustle and bustle the famous Paddy's Market is now situated on Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays where deals and haggling of prices takes place. Your bound to find a bargain of some sort.
