Sydney Opera House

The Opera House is situated at Bennelong Point on Sydney Harbour. The building designed by Danish architect, Jorn Utzon was selected after a competition held in 1956 when Sydney identified a need for a new Opera and Theatre Hall in 1947. The building contains 2 major halls, the acoustically functional Symphony Hall and the smaller Opera Theatre. Queen Elizabeth 11 officially opened the Sydney Opera House on 20th October 1973.
