Information to Lake Macquarie
Lake
Macquarie is Australia's largest coastal saltwater lake with
approximately 170km of foreshore and 4 times the size of Sydney
Harbour. The Lake is calm enough for fishing, boating or any variety
of watersports. The Watagan Mountains provide the perfect backdrop for
adventurous hikes, camps or horse rides.
Lake Macquarie offers
activities and interests for everyone of all ages. The region is the
gateway to the Hunter Vineyards in the West, Newcastle in the North
and Central Coast in the South. Visitors are close within driving
proximity to nature, history, culture and activities.
Dining along the Lake's
foreshores are an experience, with an emphasis on its seafood
cuisine. The Lake offers visitors the picturesque venue for many
outdoor activities during the day such as picnicking, bike riding
along its cycleways, cruising its waters, exploring its rural
villages and handicrafts or clubbing and dining at night. Visitors can
determine the pace they wish to enjoy the Lake.
Lake Macquarie has all types
of accommodation when staying there, whether you prefer fully
serviced, resort style, self contained, camping or bed and breakfast,
it's all available here.
The magic of the
Lake awaits you just a bit over ninety minutes drive north of Sydney.
Make the visit and see for yourself.
