The Sydney International Regatta Centre was specifically built for the purpose of the rowing and canoe/kayak events of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.

The course is 2300 metres long and is constructed on a former sand and gravel quarry. The whole area that surrounds the Regatta Centre is a reclamation and restoration of the land from sand and gravel mining.

The venue is free to tour by own car transport when there are no major events or tournaments running. The area is beautifully landscaped with the planted native trees and plants around the venue. A picturesque  location for a packed lunch or BBQ with lots of grounds to spread out a picnic rug.

Update 10-9-2000 Olympic venues now in lockdown stage. Venues may not be open to the general public. Please check with the venue or SOCOG.
