The time had finally arrived and Sydney's 25 year wait was over. Barbra Steisand ("pronounced with an "s" as in sand not "zee" as zand") who was due to tour Australia in 1975 for the "A Star is Born" production but fell ill and was unable to travel down under has made it to Sydney in 2000. The wait has been worth it. The Australian  Timeless Tour kicked off a day later in Sydney.

After the heavy traffic, long walk and bag searches (no umbrella's or cameras permitted) we finally got into the  at 8:15pm. Barbra came out on stage at 8:35pm approximately due to delays experienced in people parking and getting searched before being seated.

It was a fabulous concert and Barb's definitely proved she was a star in her own right. Both her inner and outer beauty glowed throughout the night and it seems so hard to believe that such a "beautiful" person exists, who is also able to make so many people feel really good inside.

Her appearance on stage is not the "standard" entrance and she really does put on a warm performance. I loved her entrance which got the crowd cheering soon as she appeared. The orchestra directed  by Marvin Hamlisch, complimented her beautiful voice. She sang many of her timeless classics and even the men in the audience came out feeling warm and fuzzy from it. The young talented Lauren Frost, whom Barbs discovered is inspiring too.

There were too many highlights of the Timeless concert but what stood out for us was Barbra's duet with Old Blue Eyes, her song Papa from Yentle and the audience involvement she does with "Auld eng Syne".

Barbra took the audience through a tour of her career and sang  her songs for the various stages of her life.

The technology and effects of the video screen really come to life at this spectacular multi-media concert.

For the price of the ticket you received a battery operated hand-held lightwand which really set off the mood once the lights went out to start the show. For the rest of the night the lightwands made a fairy light effect at every applause and during some of the moving ballads Barbs sang. Just a word of advice...... be gentle with those lightwands. Yours truly managed to break 2 in the duration of the entire night….from all the excitement of clapping and waving.

Concert memorabilia is available before and after the concert, including a variety of t-shirts, programs, coffee mugs and more

After reading this review..you can't half tell we absolutely enjoyed the concert and every cent spent for the $447 gold ticket was worth it!!!
