The
Sydney Royal Easter Show 2000 is the biggest it has ever been. The
crowds are big too. Leisure & Tourism Link visited the “Show”
Saturday 22/4/00. The country cousins had arrived into the Big Smoke at
Homebush to show off their wares.
There
are many exhibitions, food outlets and activities to entertain show
goers for more than a day. It would pay to return for a second day to
appreciate the whole show.
To
avoid the rush at dinner time, try and get in for dinner before 6pm. Our
group of 6 only had a short wait at the Lone Star tent and had the most
tender steaks and moist Chicken strips while listening to live country
music.
Like
every year, there is always something new to see and buy at the show.
This year is no exception including the food produce displays. The
Fireworks were the highlight of the night. There were 2 sessions on the
Easter Saturday which could also be viewed outside the arena.
Here
are a few tips to take on board if you plan on going, based on our
experiences. Purchase
show and sample bags before the evening show in the Grand Arena, as the
show bag pavilion closes at 9pm sharp. They literally stop serving you
at 9pm. The show bags that we purchased included the Monster Machines,
Star Wars and Pooh Junior which returned good value for our money spent
which were purchased outside the show bag pavilion after it closed.
The
lowlight of the show was the young and abled bodies (you know who you
are) that occupied disabled seats in the main arena while elderly
spectators were forced to stand or not able to stand to see the
entertainment and search for seating elsewhere in the show grounds shame
shame shame!!!!! Has the respect for our elderly been totally lost?????
